세종시가 한글문화도시로서의 정체성을 강화하고 국보급 유물의 세계적 위상을 높이기 위한 발걸음을 내디뎠다.
세종시는 24일 세종시청 책문화센터에서 교재 출판 전문기업 ‘미래엔’과 업무협약을 체결하고, ‘월인천강지곡’의 유네스코 세계기록유산 등재와 세종시립박물관의 위상 제고를 위한 협력에 나섰다.
협약에 따라 양측은 내년 9월 세종시립박물관 개관에 맞춰 ‘월인천강지곡’ 기탁서를 작성하고, 현재 한국학중앙연구원 장서각에 보관 중인 해당 유물을 박물관으로 이관할 예정이다.
이는 세종시가 지향하는 ‘박물관 도시’ 및 ‘한글문화도시’로서의 상징성을 더욱 공고히 하는 계기가 될 전망이다.
특히, 유네스코 세계기록유산 등재를 위한 전담 추진위원회를 양 기관이 공동으로 구성하기로 하면서, ‘월인천강지곡’의 역사적 가치를 세계에 알리는 공식 절차도 본격화될 예정이다.
‘월인천강지곡’은 세종대왕이 1449년 직접 지은 찬불가로, 훈민정음 창제 이후 제작된 가장 오래된 국문시가 가운데 하나다.
