현대차와 기아는 30일 서울 여의도 페어몬트 앰배서더에서 열린 ‘2024 CDP 코리아 어워드(CDP Korea Award)’에서 현대차가 기후변화 대응 ‘탄소경영 아너스 클럽’과 수자원 관리 ‘대상’을, 기아가 기후변화 대응 ‘탄소경영 섹터 아너스’와 수자원 관리 ‘우수상’을 수상했다고 밝혔다.
CDP는 전 세계 투자자와 기업들이 활용하는 권위 있는 글로벌 환경정보공개 플랫폼으로, 매년 기후변화 대응과 수자원 관리 부문에 대해 각국 주요 기업의 글로벌 환경 이슈 대처 역량을 리더십 A(Leadership A), 리더십 A-(Leadership A-), 매니지먼트 B(Management B) 등 총 8개 등급으로 평가하고 우수기업에 대한 시상을 진행한다.

기아는 기후변화 대응 선택소비재 부문에서 ‘탄소경영 섹터 아너스’를 6년 연속 수상했으며, 수자원 관리 부문에서는 ‘우수상’에 선정됐다.
양사는 이번 기후변화 대응 부문 평가에서 △2045 탄소중립 전략 추진 △친환경차 라인업 지속 확대 △협력사 탄소중립 유도 △사업장 재생에너지 전환 확대 등 탄소경영 활동을 높이 평가받았다.
또한, 수자원 관리 평가에서는 △수자원 재활용 확대 △방류수 수질 관리 △실시간 수질오염물질 모니터링 시스템 구축 △해양생태계 복원 사업 등 선도적인 수자원 관리 노력을 인정받았다.
