대통령리더십연구원과 중도포럼측은 5월8일 보도자료에서 “중도층이 본격적인 세력화에 나섰다. 6.3 조기 대선에서 중도층의 향방이 최대 관심사로 떠오른 가운데, 국내외 각계각층의 기관-단체 대표 200여명이 참여한다. 중도포럼 출범식 및 중도시대 선포식은 5월12일 오후2시부터 국회의원회관 제3세미나실에서 개최된다. 중도포럼은 이후 중도운동을 적극 전개해나갈 계획”이라고 밝혔다.
