올해로 10주년을 맞은 ‘조형아트서울 2025’가 오는 5월 22일부터 25일까지 서울 삼성동 코엑스 전시장 B홀에서 열린다. 예술과 산업, 창작과 시장의 조우를 지향하는 이번 행사에는 조각, 설치, 유리, 미디어 아트 등 다양한 장르의 작품 3,300여 점이 출품되며, 문화예술의 동시대적 흐름을 입체적으로 조망할 예정이다. 이희범 부영그룹 회장이 새조직위원장으로 추대되어 예술의 산업화를 위한 실천적 모색도 함께 이루어진다.

아트페어 G-61(아트눈 갤러리) 부스에 참가하는 전통 공예의 심미성과 현대 회화의 감각을 융합해 온 이태양 작가의 작품이 주목된다. 작가는 ‘사유의 미학’을 주제로 한 나전칠기 조형 회화 10여 점을 출품한다. 그의 작품은 단순한 시각적 아름다움을 넘어, 시간과 문명을 관통하는 인간 내면의 깊은 사유를 환기시키는 철학적 울림을 담고 있다.
작가는 한국의 국보 제78호와 제83호 반가사유상에서 출발하여, 일본 고류지의 목조반가사유상, 나아가 프랑스 조각가 로댕의 ‘생각하는 사람’에 이르기까지, 동서양을 대표하는 명상의 형상을 조형 언어로 재구성했다. 서로 다른 시대와 문화권에서 태어난 형상들이지만, 그 안에 담긴 사유의 깊이는 하나의 본질로 이어진다는 믿음이 그의 작업 전반을 관통한다.
