국민의힘은 이재명 후보의 주장에 대해 “북극항로는 이미 10여 년 전부터 시범 운항된 사안이며, 해당 항로는 8개 연안국 간의 국제 협의에 기반한 고도의 외교적 조율이 필요한 분야”라며 “대통령 5년 임기 안에 개인 의지로 개척할 수 있는 성질이 아니다”라고 반박했다.
