한일 대중가요사의 최초 경연 프로그램이었던 MBN 한일가왕전에서 자국에서의 30년 무명의 침묵을 깨고 한국에서 새롭게 태어난 일본 가수가 있다. 풀잎에 저민 이슬과 같은 감성을 품은 가수 우타고코로 리에(歌心りえ)이다.

후지TV에서 방영된 가수의 특집에서는 20세에 데뷔했지만, 30년 동안 무명으로 활동하며 많은 좌절과 어려움을 겪었던 가수가 50세에 오디션 프로그램을 통해 한국으로 건너가 새롭게 탄생한 가수의 삶을 심층적으로 헤아렸다.
방송은 1995년, 3인조 유닛 ‘Letit go’ 보컬로 데뷔 후 ‘September’라는 트리오 밴드 활동 당시 한국 유명 드라마 '겨울연가' OST ‘처음부터 지금까지(最初から今まで)’를 유명 작사가 마츠이 고로가 작사한 최초의 일어 가사로 커버하였으며 이어 이재한 감독의 영화 ‘내 머릿속의 지우개(私の頭の中の消しゴム)’ OST 등을 커버한 한국과의 인연을 소개하였다. 이어 맨살에 떨어지는 물방울처럼 깊은 울림이 가득한 가수의 노래에 감성의 아이콘 한국 가수 린이 눈시울을 적시는 장면에서부터 가수의 오랜 무명의 삶을 돌아보는 애틋한 영상에 많은 시청자들이 감동하였다.
