(브레이크뉴스인천 박상도 기자) 법무부 인천서부보호관찰소가 지난 16일, 올해 대학에 진학한 대학생과 지난 4월 시행된 제1회 검정고시에 전과목 합격생을 포함하여 총 11명에 대한 장학금 수여식을 가졌다고 밝혔다.
인천서부보호관찰소에 따르면, 이번 수여식은 학업을 포기하지 않고 대학 진학과 검정고시를 통해 새로운 출발을 준비하고 있는 보호관찰 청소년들을 격려하고 실질적인 경제적 지원을 통해 지속적인 자기 계발을 돕기 위해 마련됐다.
이날 장학금 수여식에서는 대학에 진학한 학생에게는 50만 원을 올 상반기 검정고시 전과목 합격한 청소년에게는 30만 원 등 총 290만 원의 장학금을 전달했다.
장학금은 인천 검단농협 및 보호관찰위원 기부금 등 유관기관의 후원을 통해 마련됐으며 수여식에는 법무부 보호관찰위원 인천서부보호관찰소협의회 양동환 협의회장 및 협의회 임원진과 장학증서 수여자 등 20여 명이 참석해 이들의 새로운 출발을 축하하고 격려했다.
수여식 자리에서 양동환 협의회장은 “때로 어려움과 시련이 있겠지만 오늘의 격려와 축하를 기억하며 한걸음씩 나아가기를 바란다”고 말했다.
인천서부보호관찰소 김동민 소장은 “학업을 통해 새로운 삶을 준비하고자 하는 청소년들의 노력은 그 자체로 의미 있는 변화의 시작이라며 앞으로도 다양한 지원을 통해 보호관찰 청소년들이 건강한 사회 구성원으로 성장할 수 있도록 힘쓰겠다”고 밝혔다.
