대전 대덕구 대화동, 취약계층 주거환경 개선 나서

대전 대덕구 대화동 행정복지센터(동장 장선영)가 지역 내 취약계층의 열악한 주거환경 개선을 위해 또 한 번 팔을 걷어붙였다. 

대화동은 22일 디딤돌봉사회(회장 김지봉) 회원 15명과 함께 복합적 어려움을 겪고 있는 두 가구에 맞춤형 정비 활동을 진행했다고 밝혔다.

이날 지원이 이뤄진 대상은 대인기피로 장기간 외부와 단절된 채 지내온 중장년 1인 가구와, 자폐성 장애로 인해 돌발 행동이 잦은 자녀를 홀로 양육 중인 모자 세대다. 대화동 맞춤형복지팀은 수차례 방문 상담과 심리적 신뢰 형성을 통해 주민들을 설득한 끝에 환경 정비에 동의를 얻어냈다.

정비 작업에는 디딤돌봉사회 회원들이 자발적으로 참여해 집 안에 방치돼 있던 폐가전과 생활쓰레기를 수거하고, 구석구석 청소를 실시했다. 특히 폐기물 분류와 정리 작업은 자원 재활용과 환경위생 측면에서도 의미 있는 결과를 낳았다.

김지봉 디딤돌봉사회 회장은 “지역사회의 어려운 이웃들이 보다 쾌적한 환경에서 건강한 삶을 영위하길 바란다”며 “앞으로도 손길이 필요한 곳이 있다면 언제든지 기꺼이 나서겠다”고 말했다.

장선영 대화동장은 “주민의 청결한 주거환경 조성을 위해 나눔을 실천해 주신 디딤돌봉사회 봉사자분들 덕분에 대화동이 더욱 밝고 건강한 공동체가 되고 있다”라며 “대상자 스스로 깨끗한 주거환경을 유지할 수 있도록 행정복지센터가 꼼꼼하게 살피겠다”라고 전했다.

한편, 2002년 창립된 디딤돌봉사회는 대전 지역 전역을 무대로 활동해온 가족 중심 봉사단체다. 특히 지난해 6월에는 대화동에 거주하던 저장강박증 어르신 가구의 환경개선 활동을 통해 약 9,000리터에 달하는 쓰레기를 치우고 공간을 원상 복구한 사례로 주목받은 바 있다.
