(브레이크뉴스인천 박상도 기자) 부천시가 23일, 교육부 산하 한국연구재단이 주관하는 ‘2025년 인문도시 지원사업’에 최종 선정됐다고 밝혔다.
부천시에 따르면, 이번 선정은 지난 2월 27일 가톨릭대학교와 체결한 ‘인문도시 부천 구축’ 업무협약의 성과로, 예비 선정 이후 이의신청 절차를 거쳐 확정됐다.
‘인문도시 지원사업’은 대학과 지자체가 협력해 지역의 인문자산을 발굴하고, 시민의 인문학 접근성을 높이는 것을 목표로 한다.
수도권에서는 부천시가 유일하게 선정됐으며, 향후 3년간 총 4억 원의 국비를 지원받는다.
부천시와 가톨릭대학교가 공동 제안한 과제는 ‘지속 가능한 인문예술도시로 도약’을 주제로, 지역 인문자산을 기반으로 문화·예술과 융합한 프로그램을 통해 인문도시로서의 정체성을 강화하는 데 중점을 두고 있다.
시민이 주도적으로 참여하는 인문 강좌, 체험 프로그램, 인문축제 등 다양한 콘텐츠가 마련되며, 국제 창의도시 네트워크를 활용해 글로벌 인문예술도시로서의 경쟁력도 함께 확보할 계획이다.
이번 사업은 시민을 대상으로 가톨릭대학교 인간학연구소, 예술미디어융합학과 대학원과 함께 부천문화재단, 부천시립예술단 등 지역 문화기관과 연계해 추진되며, 문학 창의도시로서의 부천 정체성과도 부합한다.
조용익 부천시장은 “창의성과 혁신이 요구되는 시대일수록 인문학적 소양은 도시의 지속가능한 경쟁력을 높이는 핵심 자산”이라며 “민·관·학이 유기적으로 협력해 부천의 정체성을 구현하는 지속가능한 지역 발전 모델을 만들겠다”고 말했다.
부천시는 앞으로도 이번 공모사업 선정을 계기로 인문학, 예술, 국제 교류가 어우러지는 지속가능한 인문예술도시 조성을 본격적으로 추진할 계획이다.
