(브레이크뉴스인천 박상도 기자) 인천지역 150여 개 시민단체가 참여한 ‘공공의료 강화와 국립 인천대 공공의대 설립 범시민협의회’(이하 범시민협의회)는 인천시민의 오랜 숙원인 인천대학교 공공의과대학 설립 실현을 위해 2025년 하반기 본격적인 대응에 나선다.
범시민협의회는 제21대 대통령 선거 당시 이재명 후보가 “공공의대 설립 등으로 공공의료 확보 통해 대한민국을 기본이 튼튼한 복지강국으로 만들겠다”고 약속한 바 있음을 상기시키며, 해당 공약이 새 정부 국정과제에 반영될 수 있도록 전방위적인 정책 활동을 전개하고 있다.
지난 7월 21일, 범시민협의회는 국정기획위원회에 ‘국립 인천대학교 공공의대 설립 추진을 위한 정책제안서’를 공식 제출, 정부 차원의 적극적인 검토와 반영을 요청했다.

특히 국내 7대 특·광역시 소재 국립대학 중 유일하게 의과대학이 없는 국립대학인 인천대학교에 공공의대를 설립하여 지역 의료 불균형 해소와 감염병 대응력 강화를 위한 정부의 적극적인 역할을 제안하고 있다.
범시민협의회는 이와 연계하여 국회 정책토론회 개최를 추진하고, 2025년 내 공공의대 통합법안이 국회에서 발의·제정될 수 있도록 지자체, 정부, 정치권에 인천시민의 의지를 지속적으로 전달하겠다는 계획도 함께 밝혔다.
