【브레이크뉴스 포항】박영재 기자=선린대학교(총장 곽진환) 첨단융합계열 이차전지융합과 ‘RiCell’팀이 '제3회 사용후 배터리를 활용한 글로벌 ESG 아이디어 경진대회'에서 장려상을 수상했다. 이번 대회는 지난 9월 10일부터 12일까지 경기도 고양시 킨텍스(KINTEX)에서 열렸다.

수상팀은 이차전지융합과 김주헌, 김민준, 류재령, 이상민 학생으로 구성됐으며, ‘사용후 배터리를 활용한 전기오토바이 예열 시스템’을 출품해 창의성과 실용성에서 높은 평가를 받았다. 심사는 주제 적합성, 독창성, 출품작 완성도 등을 기준으로 전문가와 관람객의 점수를 합산해 이뤄졌다.
이번 대회는 선린대가 추진 중인 '지역혁신중심 대학지원체계(RISE) 사업'의 지원을 받아 참가가 이뤄졌다. 지도교수인 옥창우 학과장은 “학생들이 현장에서 활용할 수 있는 실무 능력을 증명한 성과”라며 “앞으로도 문제 해결 중심의 교육을 강화해 이차전지 전문가 양성에 힘쓰겠다”고 말했다.
한정안 선린대 RISE사업단장도 “이번 성과는 ‘K-U시티 인재양성 및 혁신기술 개발사업’의 성과 중 하나”라며 “이차전지 산업에 필요한 융합형 전문 인재를 꾸준히 배출해 포항 지역 산업과 경제 발전에 기여하겠다”고 밝혔다.
한편, 선린대학교 이차전지융합과는 지난 3월 교육부의 'RISE K-U시티 인재양성 및 혁신기술 개발사업'에 선정돼 2025년부터 2029년까지 5년간 총 22억 5천만 원을 지원받는다. 이를 통해 이차전지 산업 전문인력 양성과 함께 지역사회에 뿌리내리는 정주형 인재 양성을 목표로 하고 있다.

Sunlin University's "RiCell" Team Wins Encouragement Award at Global ESG Idea Competition
Sunlin University (President Kwak Jin-hwan)'s Advanced Convergence Department's "RiCell" team won an Encouragement Award at the "3rd Global ESG Idea Competition Utilizing Spent Batteries." The competition was held at KINTEX in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province, from September 10th to 12th.
The winning team, comprised of students Kim Joo-heon, Kim Min-jun, Ryu Jae-ryeong, and Lee Sang-min from the Department of Secondary Battery Convergence, received high marks for their creativity and practicality with their "Electric Motorcycle Preheating System Utilizing Spent Batteries." The judging process included a combined score from experts and audience members, based on criteria such as theme relevance, originality, and overall quality of the entries.
This competition was supported by Sunlin University's "Regional Innovation-Oriented University Support System (RISE)" project. Professor Ok Chang-woo, the department head and advisor, stated, "This achievement demonstrates the students' practical skills that can be applied in the field. We will continue to strengthen our problem-solving-focused education to cultivate secondary battery experts."
Director Han Jeong-an of the RISE Project at Sunlin University also stated, "This achievement is one of the outcomes of the 'K-U City Talent Development and Innovative Technology Development Project.' We will continue to produce convergence-oriented professionals needed for the secondary battery industry and contribute to the industrial and economic development of the Pohang region."
Meanwhile, Sunlin University's Department of Secondary Battery Convergence was selected for the Ministry of Education's 'RISE K-U City Talent Development and Innovative Technology Development Project' in March. This will receive a total of 2.25 billion won in funding over five years, from 2025 to 2029. Through this funding, the department aims to cultivate professionals in the secondary battery industry while also fostering established talent rooted in the local community.
