고양특례시가 주도하는 '국도 1호선 도시연맹'이 인구감소와 지역소멸 위기에 공동 대응하기 위한 구체적인 협력 사업 발굴에 나섰다.
고양특례시는 지난 4일 국립목포대학교 글로컬스타트업센터에서 '국도 1호선 도시연맹' 제2회 실무자회의를 개최했다고 5일 밝혔다.

이번 회의에는 고양특례시를 비롯해 마포구, 영등포구, 광명시, 오산시, 완주군, 목포시 등 7개 지자체 실무자들이 참석했다.
이는 지난해 11월 5일 연맹 결성 이후 두 번째로 참여 도시들이 한자리에 모인 자리다.
국도 1호선 도시연맹은 이동환 고양특례시장의 제안으로 출범해 ▲도시의 지속가능성 강화 ▲인구감소 및 지역소멸 대응 ▲경제협력 기반 구축 ▲지역 인프라 사업 발굴 등 4대 핵심 목표를 설정했다.
이날 회의에서는 이러한 목표에 부합하는 다양한 협업 아이디어가 쏟아졌다.
주요 안건으로는 ▲폐교 활용형 교육사업 ▲국도 1호선 휴게·관광·특산물교류 휴게소 조성 ▲국도 1호선 연계 관광 개발 ▲미혼남녀 교류행사 공동 개최 등이 제시됐다.

국도 1호선 도시연맹과 도시포럼은 도시소멸 방지라는 공통 목표 아래 민·관 협력 거버넌스를 구축하고, 상호 협력을 통해 시너지 효과를 극대화한다는 계획이다.
이동환 고양특례시장은 "모든 도시가 공통적으로 직면한 인구감소와 지역소멸 위기에 대응하고, 시민이 살고 싶은 지속 가능한 도시를 만들기 위해서는 새로운 도시발전 패러다임으로의 전환이 필요하다"고 강조했다.
이어 "민관 협력은 물론 초광역 도시 간 협력 또한 중요한 시점"이라며 "지역 간 연대·협력을 통해 창의적이고 지속 가능한 도시 발전을 함께 이루어 나가겠다"고 밝혔다.
