【충북 브레이크뉴스】김봉수 기자=송기섭 충북 진천군수는 12일 아침 군수 집무실에서 지난달 발생한 음성군 소재 기업의 화학 사고와 관련한 대책 마련 간부회의를 주재했다.
지난 10월 12일 23시경 음성군 대소면 미곡리 61-36번지 소재 업체 지하 탱크에 보관 중이던 비닐 아세테이트 모노머가 중합 반응을 일으키면서 젤 상태로 지상으로 유출되는 사고가 발생했다.
약 500L 가량이 유출된 것으로 집계됐으며, 얼마 후인 26일 400L가 2차로 추가 유출돼 반경 3.5km 이내에 여러 피해로 이어졌다.
현재 원주지방환경청 주관으로 정부위원 10명, 민간위원 10명으로 조사단을 구성, 영향 조사를 진행 중이다.
진천군의 경우 인근 지역인 덕산읍과 이월면 18곳의 농장이 피해를 입었고, 면적으로는 116,365㎡에 달한다.
군은 누락된 피해 농가가 발생하지 않도록 지속적으로 조사 중이다.
아울러 관내 화학물질 취급 사업장을 자체 점검하고 안전관리 강화를 요청했다.
군은 현장 피해 조사, 보상 관련 흐름을 면밀히 파악해 주민들에게 신속하게 알리는 한편 유사사고 대비를 위한 매뉴얼을 정비하고 금강유역환경청과 합동점검을 추진할 방침이다.
송기섭 진천군수는 “자칫 큰 인명 피해로도 이어질 수 있는 화학사고가 발생하지 않도록 관련 기업을 수시로 모니터링해야 한다”며 “만일의 사고에 대비해 즉시 대응할 수 있는 시스템을 견고히 해달라”고 주문했다.
