【충북 브레이크뉴스】임창용 기자=(사)이상설선생기념사업회는 18일 보재이상설기념관에서 ‘광복을 만든 진천의 독립운동가’라는 주제로 학술대회를 개최했다.
이번 행사는 광복 80주년과 제86회 순국선열의 날을 기념해 진천 출신의 독립운동가 26인의 독립운동 활동과 가치를 조명해 보고자 기획됐다.
현장에는 장주식 이사장, 임보열 진천부군수, 류윤걸 광복회충북지부장, 광복회원, 향토사연구회, 경주이씨화수회원, 지역 주민 등 100여 명이 참석했다.
학술대회에서는 총 4개의 주제 발표가 이어졌다.
먼저 3·1운동에서 활약한 진천 독립운동가에 대해 제1, 2 주제로 나눠 발표와 토론이 이뤄졌다.
이어 제3 주제는 국내에서 활동한 진천의 독립운동가, 제4 주제는 해외에서 활동한 진천의 독립운동가에 대한 주제 발표와 토론이 열렸다.
이후 종합토론은 황경수 청주대 교수가 좌장을 맡아 각 주제발표자, 토론자, 참석자들이 함께 의견을 제시하며 학술대회의 깊이를 더했다.
아울러 행사 장소인 이상설기념관 내에 진천의 독립운동가들이 남긴 어록을 서예작품으로 만들어 전시해 눈길을 끌었다.
장주식 이사장은 “오늘 학술대회를 계기로 진천 출신 독립운동가들에 대한 연구와 선양 활동이 더 활성화하길 기대한다”며 “또 조국의 광복을 위해 저마다의 생각과 능력으로 각 분야에서 치열하게 독립투쟁을 펼친 진천 출신 순국선열들의 애국정신을 되새기는 기회가 됐길 바란다”고 말했다.
임보열 부군수는 “암흑같은 상황에서도 조국 독립의 이상을 실현했던 순국선열들의 정신을 되새기고 공유함으로써 밝은 내일로 나아갈 수 있다는 희망을 함께 품는 뜻깊은 자리가 되길 기대한다”고 말했다.

The Lee Sang-seol Memorial Society held a conference on the theme "Jincheon's Independence Activists Who Created Liberation" at the Bojae Lee Sang-seol Memorial Hall on the 18th.
The event, commemorating the 80th anniversary of liberation and the 86th National Martyrs' Day, aimed to highlight the independence movement activities and values of 26 independence activists from Jincheon.

Chairman Jang Ju-sik stated, "I hope today's conference will further stimulate research and awareness of independence activists from Jincheon. I also hope this will serve as an opportunity to reflect on the patriotic spirit of the Jincheon martyrs who, with their unique perspectives and abilities, fiercely fought for independence in various fields for the liberation of our country."
Deputy Governor Lim Bo-yeol said, “I hope this will be a meaningful opportunity to share the spirit of the patriotic martyrs who achieved the ideal of independence for our country even in dark circumstances, and to foster hope for a brighter tomorrow.”
