【충북 브레이크뉴스】김봉수 기자=충북 증평군은 19일 FAO(세계식량농업기구)와 글로컬(Glocal) 시대의 지속 가능한 농업 모델 구축을 위한 공동 협력에 나섰다.
이번 협력은 벨기에 겐트대학교 등 국내외 농생명분야 우수기관과 공동 추진하는 ‘증평형 스마트팜’에 깊은 관심을 보여온 탕 솅야오(Shengyao Tang) FAO 한국사무소장의 요청으로 성사됐다.
이재영 군수는 이날 서울 아미드호텔에서 탕 솅야오 소장, 한태준 겐트대학교 글로벌캠퍼스 총장 등 주요 관계자들과 만나 식량안보, 기후위기, 농촌공동체 보전 등 글로벌 농촌 이슈를 공유하고, 국제기구와 지역사회의 상호 역할에 대해 심도 있는 의견을 나눴다.
특히 이번 논의는 최근 증평군이 국제무대에서 제시한 농정 전략과도 맞물린다.
이 군수는 지난달 중국 장쑤성 옌청에서 열린 제26회 한·중·일 지방정부 교류회의에서 친환경 탄소 저감 기반의 ‘증평형 그린딜’을 발표하며 20분 도시, 스마트 미래농업 등 독창적 기후 대응전략을 제시해 주목받았다.
군이 추진하는 이러한 정책들이 FAO가 관심을 보인 협력 의제와 자연스럽게 연결되며, 양측이 논의한 ‘지속가능 농촌 모델’의 실현 가능성을 더욱 높였다는 평가다.
이번 논의에서는 향후 협력의 구체적 방향도 도출됐다.
도안면 노암리에 조성 중인 증평형 스마트팜과 1960년대부터 이어져온 증평 친환경 협업공동체 시스템의 농업유산 재조명을 통해 2040년까지 전통과 미래를 잇는 지속 가능한 농촌 모델을 위한 공동 파트너십 추진 방안을 FAO와 함께 검토했다.
이재영 군수는 “FAO에서 증평의 농업 모델에 꾸준한 관심을 표명한 것은 매우 고무적인 일”이라며 “글로컬(Glocal) 미래농업과 농촌공동체의 모범적인 혁신 모델로 도약할 수 있도록 협력 교류를 지속해 나가겠다”고 말했다.

By reexamining the agricultural heritage of the Jeungpyeong Smart Farm currently under construction in Noam-ri, Doan-myeon, and the Jeungpyeong Eco-Friendly Collaborative Community System, which has been in place since the 1960s, the county and FAO reviewed plans to promote a joint partnership to achieve a sustainable rural model that connects tradition and the future by 2040.
