【충북 브레이크뉴스】김봉수 기자=충북 진천군의 생거진천문화재단이 출범 반년 만에 진천군 문화정책의 새로운 전환점을 견인하고 있다.
재단은 설립과 동시에 축제와 지원사업, 현장형 프로그램을 본격 추진하며 ‘모두가 체감하는 문화도시’ 기반을 다져가고 있다.
재단은 지난 2023년 12월 설립 기본계획 수립을 시작으로 충북연구원 타당성 검토와 충청북도 출자·출연기관 운영심의위원회 동의 과정을 밟았다.
이어 지역 문화예술인·주민·전문가가 참여한 공청회, ‘생거진천 문화재단 설립 및 운영 조례’ 제정, 위원회 구성을 마치고 2025년 5월 충북도의 비영리법인 설립 허가를 받아 14년 숙원의 결실로 공식 출범했다.
출범과 동시에 재단은 기획력과 실행력을 강화했다.
지난 8월 직원 공개채용으로 대표이사를 포함한 11명의 직원을 갖춘 뒤 제46회 생거진천문화축제를 성공적으로 개최, 역대 최다인 27만여 명의 방문객을 유치했다.
특히 ‘군민 어울림 퍼레이드’, ‘키즈존 놀이공간’, ‘장애인 한마당’, ‘노인 건강 체육대회’ 등 맞춤형 프로그램은 전 세대의 뜨거운 호응을 끌어냈다.
또한 7월부터는 ‘2025년 진천군 문화예술단체 지원사업’을 추진해 관내 10개 단체를 선정, 음악회·전시·공연 등 다양한 활동을 지원하며 일상 속 문화예술을 확산시켰다.
11월에는 읍·면 등 비도심 지역을 대상으로 한 첫 ‘찾아가는 공연’인 ‘진천 예술로드 – 예술과 걷는 가을길’을 시작해 이동식 무대 트럭을 활용한 맞춤형 음악회를 선보였다.
학생·주부·노년층 등 계층별 기획으로 뜨거운 반응이 이어졌으며, 향후 문화예술회관 운영과 거점 정책의 기초자료로 활용될 예정이다.
재단은 내년 문화예술회관 개관에 맞춰 △명품 공연·전시 유치 △문화예술 생태계 강화 △지역 특화 콘텐츠 개발 △소외지역 현장형 프로그램 확대 등 다채로운 사업을 준비할 방침이다.
박충서 대표이사는 “임기 내 가장 큰 목표는 진천군을 글로벌 문화도시로 성장시키는 것”이라며 “문화예술회관 개관과 특화 축제, 지역 협력사업을 통해 군민이 삶 속에서 문화를 체감하는 도시를 만들겠다”고 밝혔다.

Just six months after its launch, the Saenggeo Jincheon Cultural Foundation in Jincheon County, North Chungcheong Province, is spearheading a new turning point in Jincheon County's cultural policy.

Ten local organizations were selected and supported with various activities, including concerts, exhibitions, and performances, fostering the inclusion of culture and arts in everyday life.
In November, the festival launched "Jincheon Art Road - Autumn Walk with Art," its first "visiting performance" program targeting non-urban areas such as towns and townships. The festival featured customized concerts using a mobile stage truck.
The project, which targeted diverse demographics, including students, housewives, and the elderly, garnered enthusiastic responses and will serve as a foundation for future operations and key policies for the Culture and Arts Center.
In anticipation of the center's opening next year, the foundation plans to launch a variety of initiatives, including attracting high-quality performances and exhibitions, strengthening the cultural and arts ecosystem, developing regionally specialized content, and expanding on-site programs in underserved areas.
