파주시가 여성친화도시로 재지정되며 향후 5년간 성평등 정책을 본격 추진한다.
파주시는 지난 26일 성평등가족부와 '여성친화도시 지정 협약'을 체결했다고 밝혔다.
2020년 첫 지정 이후 5년 만의 재지정으로, 그간의 성과를 인정받은 결과다.
여성친화도시는 정책 수립과 추진, 평가 과정에서 성평등한 참여 기반을 마련하고, 돌봄 부담으로 사회활동이 제한된 여성의 역량을 강화하기 위한 제도다.

파주시는 2019년 「파주시 여성친화도시 조성에 관한 조례」를 제정한 후, 성평등 정책 추진 기반 구축, 여성의 경제·사회 참여 확대, 지역사회 안전 증진, 가족친화 환경 조성, 여성의 지역사회 활동 역량 강화 등을 실현해왔다.
지난 5년간 공무원과 시민 대상 성인지 교육을 확대하고, 주기적인 성인지 통계를 구축했다.
시민참여단, 여성취업지원 민관협의체, 젠더 거버넌스, 안전 거버넌스를 운영하며 민관 협력을 강화했다.
또한 여성주의 구술채록단, 평화를 이야기하는 여성 강사단, 젠더폭력 예방 교육 강사단을 양성하고, 파주형 여성친화거리를 조성했다.
특히 성매매집결지 폐쇄 등 특화사업의 우수성을 인정받았다.
앞으로 파주시는 여성 마을버스 운수종사자와 건설기계조종사를 양성해 노동시장에서의 성별 직종 분리를 해소할 계획이다.
성매매집결지 완전 폐쇄를 통한 여성친화적 공간 조성도 마무리한다.
미래세대를 위한 맞춤형 젠더폭력 예방 교육을 확대하고, 전국 최초로 도입한 '파주형 다함께돌봄센터'를 매년 추가 설치해 초등 학령기 아동 돌봄 공백을 해소할 방침이다.
김경일 파주시장은 "여성이 사회활동에 적극적으로 참여할 수 있는 환경을 조성하는 것이 지역 발전의 중요한 기반"이라며 "일과 돌봄이 공존하는 생활환경을 구축해 성평등이 기본이 되는 여성친화도시 파주를 만들어 모든 시민이 동등하게 기회에 접근할 수 있도록 하겠다"고 밝혔다.
