【충북 브레이크뉴스】김봉수 기자=음성군은 지역의 대표 수변 경관 자원인 생극면 응천 일대의 벚꽃길을 낮과 밤이 아름다운 관광명소로 새롭게 단장했다고 27일 밝혔다.
이번 사업은 응천 제방을 따라 조성된 벚꽃길을 지역의 대표 관광명소로 육성하기 위해 추진됐으며, 총사업비 7억 원을 들여 지난 5월 착공해 11월에 준공됐다.
그동안 지역 주민들은 야간 산책 시 조명시설이 다소 부족하다는 의견을 제시해 왔다.
이에 군은 밤에도 벚꽃길의 아름다움을 감상할 수 있도록 LED 야간경관조명을 설치했으며, 벚꽃길 구간 곳곳에 쉼터와 추억을 남길 수 있는 감성적인 포토존을 새롭게 조성했다.
특히 7억 원의 사업비 중 2억 원은 지역 명소를 가꾸고자 하는 주민들의 염원을 담아 2025년 주민참여예산 군민공모를 통해 주민참여예산심의위원회의 심의·의결을 거쳐 반영됐다.
이를 바탕으로 주민들이 직접 제안하고 결정한 사업이 명소화 사업으로 현실화됐다. 낮에는 벚꽃 산책로로, 밤에는 감성적인 야경 명소로 안전하고 운치 있는 공간으로 조성돼 방문객들의 체류 시간을 늘릴 수 있는 환경이 마련됐다.
군은 이번 사업을 계기로 봄 벚꽃축제 기간에 집중되던 관광 수요를 사계절로 분산시켜, 계절과 관계없이 찾을 수 있는 관광명소로 발전시킨다는 계획이다.
군 관계자는 “응천 십리벚꽃길은 주민들의 오랜 정성과 애정이 깃든 공간으로, 이번 명소화 사업을 통해 사계절 방문이 가능한 대표 명품 벚꽃길로 거듭났다”며 “앞으로도 지역의 특색을 살린 관광자원 개발과 정주 여건 개선을 통해 지역경제 활성화에 힘쓰겠다”고 말했다.
