【브레이크뉴스 경북】이성현 기자=대한적십자사 경북지사(회장 김재왕)는 경북재난심리회복지원센터(센터장 서수희)가 지난 15일 영주적십자병원 앙리뒤낭홀에서 ‘다독다독 프로젝트’의 일환으로 관내 홀몸어르신을 대상으로 건강검진 설명 및 건강강좌를 진행했다고 밝혔다.

이번 프로그램은 앞서 실시한 자조모임과 심리상담, 영화 관람 등 문화·정서 지원 활동에 이어 어르신들이 건강검진 결과를 스스로 이해하고 일상 속에서 지속적인 건강관리를 할 수 있도록 돕기 위해 마련됐다.
이날 행사에는 관내 홀몸어르신 60명을 비롯해 적십자 봉사회 영주시협의회 소속 봉사원 20명, 영주적십자병원 간호사와 관계자 5명 등이 참여했다. 간호사들은 어르신 눈높이에 맞춰 개인별 건강검진 결과를 설명하고, 질의응답 시간을 통해 건강과 관련한 궁금증을 해소하는 방식으로 프로그램을 진행했다.
특히 병원으로 어르신들을 직접 초청해 이뤄진 건강검진 설명과 건강강좌는 단순한 정보 전달을 넘어 의료 접근성이 낮은 취약계층의 이해도를 높이고 심리적 안정감을 제공했다는 점에서 의미를 더했다. 행사 전반에는 적십자 봉사원들이 동행해 이동과 참여를 지원하며 자연스러운 교류를 도왔다.
김영희 적십자 봉사회 영주시협의회 회장은 “건강검진을 받아도 자신의 상태를 정확히 이해하기 어려운 경우가 많은데, 병원에서 직접 설명을 들을 수 있어 매우 뜻깊은 자리였다”며 “봉사원들과 함께 어르신 한 분 한 분의 건강을 다시 살필 수 있어 더욱 의미 있었다”고 말했다.
김재왕 대한적십자사 경북지사 회장은 “다독다독 프로젝트는 어르신들의 마음을 살피는 데서 출발해 일상과 건강까지 함께 돌보는 통합 돌봄을 지향하고 있다”며 “앞으로도 지역 의료기관과의 협력을 통해 어르신들의 정서적 안정과 건강한 일상을 지속적으로 지원하겠다”고 밝혔다.
한편 ‘다독다독 프로젝트’는 대한적십자사 인도주의 스타트업 공모사업에 선정돼 지난해 7월부터 경북 영주 지역을 중심으로 추진되고 있으며, 사회적으로 고립된 취약계층 노인가구를 대상으로 정서·문화·건강을 아우르는 통합 돌봄을 제공하는 지역사회 기반 예방적 돌봄 모델로 자리매김하고 있다.

The event was attended by 60 senior citizens living alone in the region, 20 volunteers from the Yeongju City Council of the Red Cross Volunteer Association, and five nurses and staff from the Yeongju Red Cross Hospital. The nurses explained the results of individual health screenings in a way that was tailored to the seniors' perspectives and addressed any health-related questions through a Q&A session.
The health screening explanations and health lectures, which invited seniors directly to the hospital, were particularly meaningful because they went beyond simply providing information, increasing understanding and providing psychological stability to vulnerable populations with limited access to healthcare. Red Cross volunteers accompanied the event, assisting with transportation and participation, fostering natural interaction.
Kim Young-hee, President of the Yeongju City Council of the Red Cross Volunteer Association, said, "Even after health screenings, it's often difficult to accurately understand one's condition. It was a truly meaningful experience to be able to hear explanations directly from the hospital." She added, "It was even more meaningful to be able to reassess each senior's health with the volunteers."
Kim Jae-wang, President of the Gyeongbuk Branch of the Korean Red Cross, stated, "The Dadok Dadok Project begins with caring for the hearts of seniors and aims to provide integrated care that encompasses their daily lives and health. We will continue to support the emotional stability and healthy lifestyles of seniors through collaboration with local medical institutions."
Meanwhile, the ‘Dadok Dadok Project’ was selected for the Korean Red Cross’ humanitarian startup contest and has been implemented since July of last year, focusing on the Yeongju area of Gyeongbuk. It is establishing itself as a community-based preventive care model that provides integrated care encompassing emotions, culture, and health to socially isolated and vulnerable elderly households.
