대전시의회 송활섭 의원(무소속, 대덕구2)은 23일 열린 제292회 임시회 제1차 본회의에서 '(가칭)대덕세무서 신설 촉구 건의안'을 대표 발의했다.
이번 건의안은 대덕구 주민들의 숙원 해소와 세무 행정 접근성 개선을 위해 신설될 세무서의 위치를 대덕구로 지정해줄 것을 촉구하는 내용을 담고 있다.
2026년 1월 현재 대전광역시에는 총 3곳의 세무서가 운영 중이다. 이 중 북대전세무서가 거두는 세수는 대전시 전체 세수의 약 60%에 육박하는 것으로 파악된다. 이러한 집중으로 인해 북대전세무서는 세무 행정 수요 과부하 상태에 있으며, 유성구와 대덕구 주민들은 업무 처리 지연으로 불편을 겪고 있다.
지난 2023년 대덕구 송촌동 행정복지센터 1층에 북대전세무서 대덕민원봉사실이 개소했으나, 이는 유성구와 대덕구의 방대한 세무 업무를 분산하기에는 역부족이라는 평가다.
또한, 대전시가 추진 중인 산업단지 개발 계획에 따라 대덕구를 비롯한 대전 전역에 기업 유입이 가시화될 경우, 향후 대전시의 세수는 더욱 증가할 전망이다.
송활섭 의원은 제안 설명을 통해 "대전에는 2014년 북대전세무서 신설 이후 추가 세무서 신설이 없었다"며, "그사이 대전시 전체 세수는 2019년 약 5조 2,000억 원에서 2024년 약 6조 1,000억 원으로 17.3% 증가했다"고 밝혔다.
그는 또한 인구수가 적은 광주광역시에 총 4곳, 연간 세수가 비슷한 대구광역시에 총 5곳의 세무서가 있는 점을 언급하며, 증가한 세수에 상응하는 세무서 확충을 피력했다.
이번 건의안 채택으로 지역 맞춤형 행정·세무 서비스 강화에 대한 기대가 커지고 있다.
