더불어민주당 장철민 의원(대전 동구)의 저서 '다시 젊은 대전: 충청이 이끄는 대한민국' 출판기념회가 지난 22일 대전 서구 팔레드오페라에서 성황리에 개최됐다.
이날 행사에는 약 3천여 명의 지지자와 시민들이 운집하며 장 의원의 정치적 행보에 대한 높은 관심을 증명했다.
출판기념회에는 박지원 전 국정원장을 비롯해 박정현, 박용갑, 장종태, 박범계, 황정아, 이건태 국회의원 등 다수의 현역 의원들이 참석했다.
또한 허태정 전 대전시장, 양승조 전 충남지사, 김제선 중구청장, 정용래 유성구청장, 박정현 부여군수 등 충청권 주요 정·관계 인사들이 대거 참여해 자리를 빛냈다.
정청래 더불어민주당 대표 등은 영상 축사를 통해 장 의원의 새로운 도전에 대한 지지를 표명했다.
특히 이날 축사에 나선 박지원 전 국정원장은 특유의 재치 있는 입담으로 참석자들의 이목을 집중시켰다.

박 전 원장은 장철민 의원을 "신언서판(身言書判)을 갖춘 인물로, 키도 크고 미남이라 인물부터가 다르다"고 극찬하며, "40대 기수론으로 반드시 '얼굴값'을 할 진짜 청년 지도자를 찾기 위해 대전까지 왔다"고 강조했다.
박 전 원장의 격려에 화답하듯, 장철민 의원은 저자와의 대화 시간을 통해 책 제목 '다시 젊은 대전'에 담긴 의미를 설명했다.
장 의원은 "단순히 나이가 젊다는 뜻이 아니라, 활력을 잃어버린 도시의 분위기와 에너지를 다시 젊게 만들겠다는 문제의식을 담았다"고 밝혔다.
또한 자신의 저서를 "대전과 충청에 대한 추억과 사랑을 담은 '연서(戀書)'이자, 새로운 시대를 열기 위해 낡은 것과 싸우겠다는 '투쟁 선언문'"이라고 규정하며 강한 의지를 드러냈다.
장 의원은 이 자리에서 수도권 일극 체제를 극복하기 위한 핵심 전략으로 '그랜드 충청' 구상을 제시했다.
그는 "대전역에서 대덕특구, 충북 오송을 잇는 혁신축이 대한민국 성장의 핵심 코어가 되어야 한다"고 주장하며, 이를 위한 구체적인 로드맵으로 3조 원 규모의 충청권산업투자공사 설립 ,충청권 광역급행철도(CTX-a) 구축 ,대전의 딥테크 기술과 인내 자본의 결합 등을 공개했다.
한편, 장철민 의원은 지난 6일 대전·충남 통합광역단체장 출마를 공식 선언한 바 있다. 이번 출판기념회와 정책 비전 제시를 통해 다가오는 6·3 지방선거를 향한 본격적인 행보를 시작한 것으로 분석된다.
