<브레이크뉴스 가평= 이용하 기자> 수도권 최대 잣나무 생산지인 가평군의 산림 자원을 보호하기 위해 북부지방산림청과 지역사회가 손을 맞잡았다.
북부지방산림청은 29일 가평군청 제2청사 통합교육장에서 '가평군 소나무재선충병 지역방제 거버넌스 회의'를 개최하고, 민·관이 함께하는 총력 방제 체제에 돌입한다고 밝혔다.
행정 주도에서 '지역 상생 방제'로 전환 이번 거버넌스 구축은 기존 관 주도의 방제 방식에서 벗어나 주민, 임업인, 전문가 등 지역 구성원이 직접 참여하는 협력 체계를 만들기 위해 마련됐다.
가평군은 잣나무림이 지역 경제와 생태계의 핵심인 만큼, 재선충병 확산 시 막대한 피해가 우려되는 지역이다. 특히 인접 시·군으로의 확산 가능성이 높아 체계적인 전략과 공조가 필수적이다.

현장 중심의 방제 전략 모색 이날 회의에는 산림청, 북부지방산림청, 경기도, 가평군 등 관계 기관과 국립산림과학원, 한국임업진흥원 등 전문가 그룹, 그리고 임업인 단체와 지역 산림조합 등 45명이 참석해 머리를 맞댔다.
참석자들은 가평군의 예찰 및 방제 현황을 공유하고, 실질적인 방제 효과를 높이기 위한 토론을 이어갔다. 회의 직후에는 가평읍 이화리 일원 방제 현장을 찾아 피해 확산 저지를 위한 집중 방제 구역을 점검하기도 했다.
