브레이크뉴스 최애리 기자= 공정거래위원회가 계란 가격 상승을 주도했다는 의혹을 받는 산란계협회에 대한 제재 절차에 들어갔다.
5일 업계에 따르면 공정위는 최근 산란계협회의 공정거래법 위반 의혹과 관련한 심사보고서(검찰의 공소장에 해당)를 발송했다. 심사보고서는 공정위가 위법 가능성이 있다고 판단할 경우 사건을 본격 심의하기 전 발송하는 문서다.
공정위는 산란계협회가 고시가격을 발표한 뒤 회원사들이 이를 따르도록 사실상 강제해 시장 가격을 끌어올린 것으로 의심하고 있는 것으로 알려졌다. 이는 사업자단체가 가격을 공동으로 결정하거나 이를 따르게 하는 행위를 금지한 공정거래법 위반 소지가 있다.
이 같은 의혹이 제기된 배경에는 최근 계란값 상승세가 있다. 국가통계포털이 발표한 2026년 1월 소비자물가동향에 따르면 계란 가격은 전년 같은 달 대비 6.8% 올랐다.
공정위는 계란 사건과 별도로 담합 의혹 사건에 대한 심의도 이어갈 방침이다. 다음 주에는 설탕 담합 사건을 심의하고, 다음 달에는 밀가루 담합 의혹에 대한 조사를 마무리할 전망이다.
공정위 관계자는 "구체적인 사건 내용에 대해 확인해드리기 어렵다"면서도 "법 위반 사안에 대해서는 엄중 제재할 것"이라고 말했다.
