【충북 브레이크뉴스】임창용 기자=서원대학교는 26일 야외음악당 일원에서 2026학년도 신입생 입학식을 개최했다.
신입생 입학식에는 신입생과 가족, 교직원 등 2천여 명이 참석한 가운데 입학허가 선언, 신입생 선서, 총장 식사, 총학생회장 환영사, 축하공연 등의 순서로 진행됐다.
이날 입학식에서 손석민 총장은 2026학년도 신입생 2,079명의 입학을 공식 승인하며 새로운 출발을 축하했다. 특히 올해 융복합대학 내 자유전공학부가 신설되어 첫 신입생을 맞이했다는 점에서 의미를 더했다.
이어 최현석(미디어콘텐츠학부), 박정원(항공관광학과) 학생이 신입생 대표로 나서 학칙을 준수하고 성실히 학업에 임할 것을 다짐하는 신입생 선서를 진행했다.
또한 동아리 축하 공연과 음악교육과 박영진 교수의 특별 공연이 마련돼 신입생들의 새로운 시작을 응원했다. 교가 제창과 기념촬영을 끝으로 행사는 마무리됐다.
입학식에 앞서 신입생들의 원활한 대학 생활 적응을 돕기 위해 학과별 오리엔테이션도 진행됐다. 신입생들은 교수진 및 선배들과 소통하며 대학 생활에 대한 궁금증을 해소하는 시간을 가졌다. 또한 행사에 참석하지 못한 학생들을 위해 공식 유튜브 채널을 통해 입학식 실황을 생중계했다.
손석민 총장은 “대학에서의 4년은 스스로 질문하고 선택하며 책임지는 법을 배우는 시간”이라며 “날개를 활짝 펴고 넓은 세상으로 웅비하기 위한 대학의 여정을 힘차게 시작하길 바란다”라고 말했다.
한편 1968년 개교해 2026년 3월 개교 58주년을 맞는 서원대학교는 최근 2026학년도 교원임용시험에서 178명의 합격자를 배출했으며, 교육부 주관 교원양성기관 역량진단평가에서 최우수 등급인 A등급을 획득하는 등 교육 역량을 다시 한번 인정받았다. 또한 지난해 RISE(지역혁신중심 대학지원체계) 사업에 선정돼 지역과 연계한 교육 혁신 실현에 박차를 가하고 있다.
