시는 총 17억 원의 예산을 투입해 노후 경유차 약 865대의 조기폐차를 지원할 계획이다.
특히 올해부터는 관련 지침 개정에 따라 지원 대상자 선정 요건이 일부 강화됐다.
기존 ‘신청일 기준 충주시에 6개월 이상 연속 등록’ 요건에 더해, ‘6개월 이상 차량을 연속 소유’해야 한다는 조건이 추가됐다.
이는 단기간 명의 이전을 통한 부정 수급을 방지하고, 실질적인 차량 소유자를 지원하기 위한 조치다.
사업 신청은 △3월 3일~3월 11일 △4월 2일~4월 10일 두 차례에 걸쳐 접수하며, 예산 집행 상황에 따라 연내 추가 접수도 추진할 계획이다.
예산 초과 접수 시에는 환경부 지침에 따른 우선순위 기준에 따라 지원 대상을 선정한다.
신청은 충주시청 9층 대기환경과 방문, 등기우편 접수 또는 자동차 배출가스 종합전산시스템을 통한 온라인 신청이 가능하다.
배출가스 5등급 차량은 2026년도까지만 조기폐차 보조금 지원이 예정되어 있어, 해당 차량 소유자는 반드시 기한 내 신청해야 한다.
