룩셈부르크 로터리 클럽은 최근 매우 연로한 회원층이 많은 편이다.
이러한 흐름 속에서 작년에 비교적 젊은 세대가 중심이 되어 새로운 클럽이 창립되었고,
이번에 그 클럽을 방문하여 오리가미 워크숍을 진행하게 되었다.
이 클럽은 세 명의 변호사, 한 명의 회계사를 비롯해 건축가, 금융인 등
다양한 전문직 종사자 25명으로 구성되어 있으며,
연령대는 대체로 40대에서 60대 전후이다.
기존 클럽과는 분명히 다른 활력과 분위기가 느껴졌으며,
이번 만남은 이들에게 로터리 클럽의 정신과 이미지를 충분히 전달할 수 있는 의미 있는 자리였다.
룩셈부르크의 로터리 클럽들은 대체로 영어, 독일어 또는 룩셈부르크어를 사용하는 경우가 많지만,
이 클럽은 프랑스어를 사용하는 것이 특징이다.
회원들의 상당수는 벨기에와 프랑스 출신이며, 동시에 영어도 매우 능숙하게 구사한다.
이날 방문에서는 오리가미 워크숍을 통해 ‘오리가미 바니(토끼)’를 함께 만들었다.
남성 회원들이 대부분이었지만, 지적 호기심과 집중력이 뛰어나
비교적 짧은 시간 안에 모두가 능숙하게 작품을 완성했다.
종이 한 장이 손끝에서 작은 생명처럼 형태를 갖추어 가는 과정은
자연스럽게 웃음과 대화를 이끌어냈고,
워크숍은 매우 즐겁고 따뜻한 분위기 속에서 진행되었다.
이번 만남은 단순한 취미 활동을 넘어,
서로 다른 문화와 언어를 가진 사람들이 종이접기라는 작은 예술을 통해
교감하고 우정을 나누는 뜻깊은 시간이 되었다.
In Luxembourg, many Rotary clubs currently have a relatively senior membership.
In response to this trend, a new club was established last year
by a group of comparatively younger professionals.
I had the opportunity to visit this club and conduct an origami workshop.
The club consists of approximately 25 members,
including three lawyers, one accountant,
and professionals such as architects and members of the financial sector.
Most members are in their 40s to early 60s.
The atmosphere of the club reflects a dynamic
and energetic spirit that distinguishes it from some of the more traditional clubs.
While many Rotary clubs in Luxembourg mainly operate in English,
German, or Luxembourgish, this particular club functions primarily in French.
Many of the members are from Belgium and France,
although nearly all are highly proficient in English.
During the visit, an origami workshop was organized in which participants learned to create an
“Origami Bunny.” Despite being a group composed mostly of men,
the members demonstrated excellent concentration and creativity,
quickly mastering the folding process.
The activity generated lively interaction and an atmosphere of enjoyment.
The workshop proved to be more than a simple cultural activity.
It served as a meaningful opportunity to share creativity and fellowship,
reinforcing the spirit of Rotary while fostering friendship and cultural exchange among members.
現在、ルクセンブルクのロータリークラブでは会員の高齢化が進んでいる傾向があります。
そのような状況の中、比較的若い専門職のメンバーを中心として、
昨年新しいクラブが設立されました。今回、そのクラブを訪問し、
折り紙ワークショップを実施する機会をいただきました。
このクラブは、弁護士3名、会計士1名をはじめ、建築家や金融関係者など、
さまざまな専門分野のメンバー約25名で構成されています。
年齢層は主に40代から60代前後で、
従来のクラブとは異なる活気ある雰囲気が感じられました。
ルクセンブルクの多くのロータリークラブでは英語、
ドイツ語、ルクセンブルク語が主に使用されていますが、
このクラブは主にフランス語で活動しています。
メンバーの多くはベルギーおよびフランス出身ですが、
ほとんどの方が英語も流暢に使用されています。
訪問当日は、折り紙ワークショップとして「折り紙バニー（うさぎ）」を制作しました。
参加者の多くは男性でしたが、皆様の理解力と集中力は非常に高く、
短時間で折り方を習得し、美しい作品を完成させました。
会場は終始和やかな雰囲気に包まれ、活発な交流が生まれました。
このワークショップは単なる文化活動にとどまらず、
折り紙という小さな芸術を通して友情と交流を深め、
ロータリーの精神を共有する有意義な機会となりました。
