<브레이크뉴스 춘천 = 이향석 기자> 춘천시가 지역 내 외국인 주민들과의 언어 장벽을 허물고 '글로벌 다문화 도시'로 도약하기 위해 든든한 소통 지원군을 맞이했다.
13일 춘천시에 따르면, 이날 시청 민방위교육장에서 '2026 춘천시 명예통역관 위촉식 및 정례회'가 열리며 총 38명의 명예통역관이 본격적인 활동의 닻을 올렸다. 이 중 17명은 뛰어난 활약을 인정받아 지난해에 이어 재위촉됐다.

춘천시 명예통역관은 관내 거주하는 외국인 주민들을 위해 시정 자료 번역과 민원 통역을 밀착 지원하고, 각종 국제행사 협력 및 도시 홍보까지 책임지는 춘천시의 핵심적인 '글로벌 소통 창구'다.
이번에 새롭게 위촉된 38명의 통역관은 총 46명의 지원자 중 꼼꼼한 심사를 거쳐 최종 선발됐다. 베트남, 몽골, 우즈베키스탄, 중국, 일본 등 총 14개국 출신으로 구성되어 무려 19개 언어를 커버하는 탄탄한 인력풀을 자랑한다.

이들은 1년간 무보수 명예직으로 임기를 수행하되, 실제 통역 현장에 투입될 경우 소정의 활동 수당이 지급된다. 더불어 우수 활동자 포상, 시내 주요 시설 무료입장 등 쏠쏠한 인센티브도 함께 주어진다.
