추 의원은 “대구시장은 특정 정당의 전략 자산이 아니라, 시민의 삶과 미래를 책임질 자리”라며, “정치 공방이 아니라 지역 발전을 위한 실질적인 비전이 필요하다”고 덧붙였다. 또한 최근 홍준표 전 시장의 대선 출마로 시정 공백이 우려되는 상황과 관련해서도, “대구가 더 이상 정치 실험의 대상이 되어서는 안 된다”고 강조했다.
마지막으로 추 의원은 “대구시장에 당선된다면 공직의 마지막 자리라는 각오로 책임 있게 일하겠다. 말이 아닌 실제 성과로 평가받겠다”며, 김부겸 후보를 향해서도 “시장직이 공직의 마지막이라는 약속을 명확히 밝히라”고 촉구했다.
