Yangju City, Gyeonggi Province to Operate ‘World Heritage Journey Pavilion’ at Hoeamsaji Royal Festival
Held from April 18 to 19, 2026… UNESCO World Heritage Signature Campaign and Experience Programs to Run Simultaneously
[Break News Yangju = Reporter Kim Wan-young] Yangju City, Gyeonggi Province, announced that it will operate a ‘World Heritage Journey Pavilion’ to promote the World Heritage value of Hoeamsaji Temple Site during the ‘9th Yangju Hoeamsaji Royal Festival,’ which will be held from April 18 to 19 at the Hoeamsaji Temple Site (National Historic Site) in Yangju.
The World Heritage Journey Pavilion will operate as an exhibition hall introducing the historical value and World Heritage significance of Hoeamsaji Temple Site, and will host various programs including a Jinju Mugwan fan signing event and social media promotional events.
In addition, members of the 2nd term of the Yangju Hoeamsaji Temple Site Residents’ Council (Chairperson Oh Heung-jin, 20 members), who were appointed last March, will participate to carry out promotional activities such as online and offline signature campaigns and quiz events to push for World Heritage designation. This festival, themed "History on the Move Again, Toward World Heritage," was planned to allow visitors to experience and understand the value of Hoeamsa Temple Site ahead of the 48th UNESCO World Heritage Committee meeting to be held in Busan in July.
Yangju Hoeamsa Temple Site was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List in 2022 and selected for the National Heritage Administration's Priority List in 2025. The city is currently pursuing the necessary procedures with the goal of achieving World Heritage designation in 2029.
