경선 결과 정준영 후보 최종 선출
정 후보 “시민 중심의 변화와 민·군 공생 발전” 강조
더불어민주당의 6·3 지방선거 계룡시장 본선 진출자가 정준영 후보로 최종 확정되며 본격적인 선거 체제에 돌입했다.
더불어민주당 충남도당은 지난 8일부터 10일까지 사흘간 진행된 국민참여경선(권리당원 투표 50%, 여론조사 50%) 결과, 정준영 예비후보가 당원과 시민들의 선택을 받아 계룡시장 후보로 결정됐다고 10일 공식 발표했다.
후보로 확정된 정준영 후보는 소감문을 통해 “경선 과정에서 뜨거운 지지를 보내주신 계룡시민 여러분께 머리 숙여 깊이 감사드린다”며 “함께 선전해주신 김대영 후보를 비롯한 모든 경선 후보자분과 지지자분들께도 심심한 위로와 감사의 인사를 전한다”고 밝혔다.
정 후보는 이번 선거의 핵심 키워드로 ‘통합’과 ‘원팀’을 내세웠다.
그는 “이제는 경선을 넘어 승리를 위해 하나로 뭉쳐야 할 때”라며 김대영, 나성후, 박춘엽, 조광국 후보 등 경선에 참여했던 인사들과의 강력한 연대를 시사했다. 아울러 “민주당의 ‘원팀’ 정신으로 결집해 6월 3일 지방선거에서 압도적인 승리를 거두고 시민의 기대에 부응하겠다”는 의지를 피력했다.
더불어민주당 후보로 최종 확정된 정준영 예비후보는 ‘시민 체감형 행정’을 약속했다.
정 후보는 “현장 중심의 행정과 실천 가능한 정책을 통해 시민이 주인이 되는 계룡을 만들겠다”며, 특히 “계룡의 특성을 살려 국방 및 공공기관 유치에 주력하고, 교통체계 개선 등 도시 성장 기반을 획기적으로 강화하겠다”고 강조했다.
정 후보는 계룡시체육회장과 놀뫼새마을금고 이사를 맡고 있으며, 민주당 내에서는 충남도당 계룡경제발전특별위원장 및 중앙당 사회복지특별위원회 부위원장으로 활동하는 등 지역 경제와 복지 분야의 전문가로 평가받는다.
특히 제21대 대통령 선거 당시 승리에 기여한 공로를 인정받아 당으로부터 1급 포상을 받은 바 있다.
