맹수석 대전교육감 예비후보가 선거사무소 개소식을 성황리에 마치고 대전 교육 혁신을 향한 본격적인 대장정에 나섰다.
맹 예비후보는 지난 4월 11일 오후 2시, 대전 소재 선거사무소에서 지역 국회의원과 교육계 주요 인사, 시민 및 지지자들이 대거 참석한 가운데 개소식을 개최했다.
이날 행사는 단순한 사무소 오픈을 넘어 맹 후보가 지향하는 ‘안전·신뢰·혁신’의 교육 비전을 시민들과 공유하는 정책 선포의 장으로 치러졌다.
행사는 세월호 참사 12주기를 기리는 엄숙한 추모 묵념으로 시작되어 눈길을 끌었다. 맹 후보는 이 자리에서 ‘학교안전선언문’을 낭독하며 학생의 생명을 최우선으로 하는 교육 철학을 공고히 했다.

맹 예비후보는 학계와 행정 현장을 두루 거친 ‘준비된 교육감’으로서의 면모를 과시했다. 충남대학교 법학전문대학원 교수 및 원장, 법과대학장 등을 역임한 그는 대전시교육청 소청심사위원, 교권보호위원회 위원장 등으로 활동하며 교육 현장의 갈등 조정과 제도 개선에 앞장서 왔다.
