충남 서해안의 지속 가능한 수산자원 보호를 위해 민·관·경이 대대적인 불법 어업 소탕 작전에 나선다.
충청남도는 봄철 어패류 산란기를 맞아 15일부터 내달 15일까지 한 달간 관계기관과 합동으로 ‘불법어업 전국 합동단속’을 실시한다고 밝혔다.
이번 단속은 어업 질서를 바로잡는 동시에, 최근 중동 정세 불안에 따른 고유가 상황을 틈타 수익 극대화를 노린 불법 조업 시도를 원천 차단하는 데 목적이 있다.
충남도에 따르면 지난 5년간 도내 불법어업 단속 건수는 총 358건으로 집계됐다.
연도별로는 2021년 102건에서 2025년 31건으로 점차 감소하는 추세지만, 어구 위반(28.6%)과 무허가 조업(28.3%) 등 고질적인 위법 행위는 여전히 기승을 부리고 있는 실정이다.
이번 단속의 효율성을 높이기 위해 충남도는 해양수산부 서해어업관리단, 각 시·군, 해양경찰서 등과 유기적인 협업 체계를 구축했다.
