한현택 전 대전 동구청장, '국민의힘 탈당' 무소속 동구청장 출마...

한현택 전 대전 동구청장이 국민의힘을 탈당하고 무소속으로 대전 동구청장 선거에 출마하겠다는 입장을 밝혔다.

한 전 청장은 15일 오전 대전시의회 기자실에서 탈당 기자회견을 열고 “공당으로서 공정한 경선을 기대했으나, 합리적인 이유나 소명 절차도 없이 경선 기회조차 박탈당했다”며 “더 이상 당의 처분만을 기다릴 수 없어 무소속 출마라는 결단을 내리게 됐다”고 탈당 배경을 설명했다.

그는 이어 “지난 21대 총선 당시에도 동구만 경선에서 배제되는 등 당의 불공정한 공천 행태가 반복되어 왔다”며, “공천 시스템이 무너진 상황에서 당에 머무는 것은 주민에 대한 예의가 아니라고 판단했다”고 덧붙였다.

이날 한 전 청장은 9급 공무원으로 시작해 3급 부이사관, 대전시 공보관을 거쳐 민선 5·6기 대전 동구청장을 역임하며 쌓아온 지역 경험을 강조했다. 

그는 “동구의 발전 과정과 현안을 누구보다 정확히 꿰뚫고 있는 사람으로서, 주민들에게 검증받은 능력과 진심으로 동구 발전을 완수하겠다”는 의지를 피력했다.

마지막으로 그는 “정당 공천제 자체의 폐해를 절감하고 있으며, 이번 선거를 통해 정당의 울타리를 넘어 오직 구민만을 바라보고 뛰겠다”며 “결과에 상관없이 이번 선거를 마지막 소명이라 생각하고 완주할 것”이라고 포부를 밝혔다.
