이날 행사는 국제화 및 정보화 시대의 선도적 군사전문가를 양성하기 위해 마련됐으며 김윤배 총장, 교무위원, 신입생, 재학생, 학부모 등 220여 명이 참석했다.
입과한 후보생들은 군사학과에서 교육을 통해 창조적 탐구인으로서의 역량을 강화하고 덕성, 인격을 연마해 국가와 민족을 위한 헌신적인 모습을 보일 것을 선서했다.
김윤배 총장은 축사에서 대한민국의 군사 강국들 사이에서 문무를 겸비한 인재의 중요성을 강조하며, 장교로서 국방과 안보 분야에서 리더가 될 학생들의 미래를 격려했다.
청주대학교 군사학과는 2010년 육군본부의 인가를 받아 개설돼 국내에서 유일하게 전용 건물을 보유하고 있다.
또 학비 전액 국비 지원 혜택과 함께 졸업 후 학군사관 또는 학사사관 과정을 거쳐 육군 소위로 임관되는 졸업생 전원에게 특별한 기회를 제공하고 있다.
