그는 이번 경선에서 경쟁했던 박병훈, 이창화, 여준기 후보에게도 “깊은 위로와 감사의 말씀을 전한다”며 “각 후보가 보여준 열정과 비전은 경주의 더 큰 도약을 위한 밑거름이 될 것”이라고 말했다.
이어 “경선 과정에서 생각과 선택은 달랐을 수 있지만, 더 나은 경주를 바라는 마음은 같았다고 믿는다”며 “이제는 그 뜻을 하나로 모아야 할 시간”이라고 강조했다.
주 후보는 본선 전략으로 이른바 ‘3·3·3 비전’도 제시했다. 그는 ▲3선 국회의원·3선 도지사·3선 시장의 협력체계를 통한 지역 발전 ▲예산 3조 원 시대 개막 ▲미래 산업 육성을 통한 3만 개 일자리 창출 등을 핵심 과제로 내세웠다.
또 “40년 행정 경험과 중앙 네트워크를 바탕으로 경주의 미래를 위한 변화를 만들겠다”며 “더 낮은 자세로 시민의 목소리를 듣고 본선 승리를 통해 경주 발전으로 보답하겠다”고 말했다.
주 후보는 “지지했던 후보가 달랐더라도 이제는 경주라는 이름 아래 함께해 달라”며 “하나로 모인 힘으로 더 큰 경주, 더 행복한 시민의 시대를 열겠다”고 밝혔다.
