필자는 3월 한달 간 제2회 누드화 소장전<장소=서울시 종로구 인사동길 30-7 '갤러리&레스토랑 담(DAM)>을 가졌습니다. 소장 작품 50여 점을 전시했었습니다.
본지 지난 3월1일자 “두번째 소장(所藏) 누드화 전시회를 여는 까닭...“볼수록 아름다운 여체” 제하의 글에서 “그리 많지는 않지만 다수의 누드화를 소장하게 됐습니다. 그러는 중 누드화를 그리는 여러 화가님들도 만나게 됐습니다. 누드화를 수천 점 그려온 장영주 화가님은 누드화에 대해 '네 몸은 하늘, 땅, 사람이 어울려 깃든 궁전임을 깨달아라!'라고 했습니다. 모든 사람, 여자든 남자든 모든 사람의 몸은 ‘거대한 궁전’임을 지적해주셨습니다. 누드화에는 여러 모델의 모습이 화폭에 담겨 있습니다. 보기에도 좋습니다. 있는 그대로의 모습이 참 아름답습니다. 모든 인간은 예외가 없이 여성의 몸에서 나왔습니다. 그렇다면? 인간은 아름다운데서 나온 존재라고 정의합니다. 누드화의 주인공인 여체(女體) 또는 남체(男體)는 인간영존의 주체이자 지고(至高)한 아름다움, 그 자체입니다.”라고 강조한 바 있습니다.

필자는 누드화 컬렉터(수집가)로, 15년 여년의 시간을 보냈습니다. 또한 50년째 기자생활을 해오고 있는데 주간신문 쪽에서만 일해, 사회적 '비주류'라 할 수 있습니다. 반면, 인터넷 언론으로 치면 '주류'이기도 합니다.
그런데 동아일보 기자로 언론민주화운동에 앞장섰다가 해직기자였던 이계익 전 교통부 장관(1937~2016. 전 KBS 해설위원)의 드로잉 누드화를 소장하게 됐습니다. 이 분은 아코디언 연주가, 화가로서의 업적도 남겼습니다.
"인생은 짧고, 예술이 길다"는 생각이 듭니다. 이계익 전 장관님은 한국민주화의 기둥역할을 했던, 애국자이셨습니다. 그 분은 전업 화가는 아니었습니다. 하지만, 필자가 소장하고 있는 이계익 전 장관님의 드로잉 작품을 보면 "한 경지를 획득한 분"이라는 생각이 듭니다. 박광태 화가는 이계익 전 정관의 누드 드로잉 작품에 대해 “수준 아주 높은 작품”이라고 평했습니다. 허유 화가는 “이계익 전 교통부 장관은 예술적 감각이 뛰어났던 화가였다”라고 회고했습니다.
