브레이크뉴스 문홍철 기자 = 이태원 참사와 관련해 윤석열 대통령 퇴진 집회에 참여하겠다는 야권 일부의 발언에 주호영 국민의힘 원내대표가 강하게 반발하고 나섰다.
주호영 원내대표는 18일 열린 원내대책회의에서 "지난 15일 안민석 더불어민주당 의원과 민형배 무소속 의원 등 21명이 '10.29 참사 진상 규명과 책임을 요구하는 의원 모임'을 발족시키며 매주 윤석열 퇴진 집회에 참여하겠다고 예고했다"며 "국내외적으로 매우 엄중한 이런 시기에 도와주지는 못할망정 취임한 지 6개월밖에 되지 않은 대통령의 퇴진 주장이 가당키나 한 일인가"라고 말했다.
주호영 원내대표는 "5년 만에 민주당이 대선에서 패배하고 정권교체가 된 데에 이들의 기여가 적지 않다고 생각한다"며 "이들이 할 일은 이재명 (민주당 대표) 퇴진 운동이 먼저라고 생각한다"고 밝혔다. 그러면서 "숱한 사건의 수사 가운데 의혹의 핵심으로 남아 있고 온갖 문제를 가지고 있는 자신의 당, 사법 리스크를 안고 있는 자신의 당 대표부터 퇴진 운동을 먼저 해주기를 당부한다"고 덧붙였다.
