[브레이크뉴스=정철규 기자] 진주시는 서부경남 첨단안전산업벨트 조성의 핵심인 ‘국토안전실증센터’구축이 올해부터 본격적으로 추진된다고 6일 밝혔다.
국토안전실증센터는 국토안전관리원의 인재개발원이 김천시로 이전함에 따라 이에 대한 상생방안으로 진주시에 구축하기로 한 연구시설이다.
진주시는 지난해 5월 실증센터 구축을 위해 경남도, 국토안전관리원, 교육지원청이 협약을 체결했지만 건립 예정지인 금곡중학교 부지에 대한 교육부 중앙투자심사를 통과하지 못해 사업이 지연되고 있었다.
하지만 시는 지난 1월 말 교육부 중앙투자심사 재검토 결과, 조건부 승인을 받아 국토안전실증센터 추진을 진행할 수 있게 됐다.
국토안전실증센터는 금곡중학교 부지에 부지면적 1만5000㎡, 연면적 3600㎡ 규모로 기업지원 및 사무공간과 실내외 실험장 등이 지어질 예정이며, 오는 2025년 착공해 2026년 준공을 목표로 한다.
국토안전실증센터가 건립되면 로봇·드론 등을 활용하여 건축물·교량·터널 등 토목 및 시설물에 대한 첨단 안전 기술 성능을 시험·검증할 예정이다.
진주시는 실증센터를 중심으로 안전산업 분야 기업유치 및 창업을 지원하고, 우수인력을 양성해 서부경남 첨단안전산업을 육성할 계획이다.
진주시 관계자는 “앞으로 관련 기관과 실무회의를 추진해 금곡중 부지 매입을 포함한 국토안전실증센터 건립에 차질이 없도록 최선을 다할 예정이다”고 말했다.
