세종시가 2023 세종가든쇼와 연계한 ‘2023 세종 낙화축제’를 오는 20일 18시 30분부터 세종중앙공원 도시축제마당에서 개최한다고 밝혔다.
밤하늘을 배경으로 4000여 개의 낙화봉에서 불꽃이 떨어지는 모양과 소리를 함께 즐기며 액운을 떨치는 ‘2023 세종 낙화축제’는 세종시와 불교낙화법보존회가 공동으로 개최한다.
낙화(落火)는 낙화봉에 불을 붙여 불꽃이 떨어지는 모양과 소리를 함께 즐기는 전통 놀이이자 의식으로, 예로부터 부정한 기운을 몰아내고 물리친다는 의미를 담고 있다.
행사 진행은 20일 18시 30분부터 세종축제 사전홍보와 낙화봉 소원지 접수 및 매달기 등 현장 이벤트를 시작으로, 20시부터 22시까지는 본격적인 낙화 행사가 진행될 예정이다.
최민호 시장은 “예로부터 낙화는 불이 가진 정화 능력을 활용해 부정한 기운을 몰아내기 위해 시행해 온 전통놀이”라며 “이번 세종 낙화축제를 통해 모든 가정에 희망과 좋은 기운을 북돋우는 소중한 시간이 되기를 바란다”고 말했다.
