충청권 4개 시ㆍ도의회가 공동으로 ‘국회 세종의사당 건립을 위한 국회규칙 조속 제정 건의문’을 15일 채택했다.
세종시의회에 따르면 이날 대전광역시의회, 충청북도의회, 충청남도의회,세종시의회 등 4개 시ㆍ도의회는 ‘국회 세종의사당 건립을 위한 국회규칙 조속 제정 건의문’을 채택했다고 밝혔다.
앞서 충청권 4개 시ㆍ도의회 의장단(이하 의장단)은 세종시의회 1층 대회의실에서 충청권 상생 발전을 위한 간담회를 열고 특별지방자치단체 광역의회 구성 계획과 2027년 하계세계대학경기대회 성공 개최를 위한 상호 협력 방안 등을 심도 있게 논의했다.
특히 이 자리에서 의장단은 세종시의회 상병헌 의장이 공식 안건으로 제출한 ‘국회 세종의사당 건립을 위한 국회규칙 조속 제정 건의문’에 공동 서명하고 국회와 정부 등에 국가균형발전과 수도권 과밀 해소를 위한 전향적인 결단을 촉구했다.
또 ▲특별자치단체 광역의회 구성 등에 관한 규약안 및 광역의회 구성 공감대 확보 방안 ▲2027 하계세계대학경기대회 성공 개최를 위한 준비 상황 점검 및 추진 계획 ▲협력·지원 요청 사항에 대한 상호 의견을 공유했다.

상병헌 세종시의회 의장은 “현재 세계대학경기대회 준비를 위한 조직위원회 구성과 동시에 경기장 및 훈련장, 선수촌 등 대회 기반 시설을 마련하는 데 충청권 시도의회가 역량과 의지를 집중해야 할 시기”라면서 “대회 폐회식 예정지인 세종시 대평동 종합경기장과 같이 장기간 걸쳐 이뤄지는 대규모 공사의 경우 예비타당성 조사 면제 등 조속히 정부의 협력과 지원이 이뤄질 수 있도록 힘을 모으겠다”고 말했다.
