경주시에 따르면 이날 주 시장은 지역 기업들의 전기?수소차 등 미래차 산업으로의 전환과 관련 정부의 도움이 절실하다며 전폭적인 지원을 건의했다.
경주는 현대자동차 울산공장과 인접한 외동지역760여개 관련 기업을 지원하기 위해 ‘미래차 첨단소재 성형가공센터’를준공하고 ‘탄소소재 부품 리사이클링센터’를 건립 중에 있다.
이에 주낙영 경주시장은 “관련 기업들이 내연기관 중심에서 전기차?수소차?자율주행차 등으로전환하기 위해서는 정부 차원의 다양한 지원정책이 반드시 필요하다”고 강조했다.
그러면서 미래차 생산에 필요한 소재?부품?장비 기업을 추가 유치해 경주시가 자동차 부품산업 리더 도시로 새롭게 발돋움할 수 있도록 산업부의 적극적인 지원과 관심을 부탁했다.
특히 지난 4월 실시한 산업부 ‘소재·부품·장비 특화단지’ 공모 사업에 대해 경주시가 참여한 ‘전기차 플랫폼 소재?부품?장비 특화단지’사업에 대해 지역 자동차 업계의 오랜 숙원사업이라고강조했다.
이밖에도 경주시의 핵심 전략산업인 원자력 관련 현안에 대한 건의도 함께 이어졌다.
주요 내용은 차세대 원자로로 주목받고 있는 SMR(소형모듈원자로)의 개발을이끌어갈 △혁신형 SMR(i-SMR) 기술개발사업단 경주 유치 △SMR 혁신제조기술 지원센터 건립 △중·저준위 방폐물 반입 지원수수료 현실화(인상) 등이다.
이 가운데 SMR 혁신제조기술 지원센터는 지난 3월 경주 SMR 국가산단유치와 함께 추진하는 후속 사업으로 SMR 소재?부품?장비의 시제품 생산과 및 제작기술 지원 등 향후 입주기업들의 기술개발 전담 기관이다.
주낙영 경주시장은 “경주는 역사문화관광도시에서 첨단 과학산업도시로 변모하고 있다”며 “지역주력산업인 자동차부품산업의 미래차 산업으로의 성공적인 전환과 원자력 관련 현안사업추진으로 새로운 미래먹거리가 창출될 수 있도록 각별한 관심을 가져달라”고 요청했다.
