지난 20일 김동희 부군수는 현장 점검을 통해 위험표지판, 인명구조함 등 시설물 관리 상태와 안전관리 요원 배치 및 근무 실태 등을 확인하고, 호우 시 피서객들이 신속하게 대피할 수 있도록 알리는 자동 우량 경보시설을 살폈다.
김 부군수는 점검 결과 미비점은 즉시 보완 조치하도록 지시했으며, 물놀이 안전관리 요원들에게는 피서객들이 안전하게 물놀이를 즐길 수 있도록 구명조끼 착용 등 안전 수칙을 수시로 안내할 것을 당부했다.
앞서 영덕군은 물놀이 안전지킴이가 물놀이 관리에 투입되기 전인 지난 5월 경상북도의 지원을 받아 (사)대한구조협회 주관으로 심폐소생술, 구조장비 운용법 등 위급상황 발생 시 인명구조에 활용할 수 있는 실습 교육 위주의 역량강화 교육을 진행했다.
영덕군의 물놀이 관리 기간은 지난 1일부터 시작돼 8월 31까지로 정해져 있으며, 같은 기간 물놀이 관리지역에는 물놀이 안전관리 요원이 배치돼 인명피해 방지를 위한 활동을 전개하게 된다.
