브레이크뉴스 문홍철 기자= 기아는 지난 한 해 동안의 다양한 지속가능경영 성과와 ESG 관련 정보를 담은 2023년 지속가능경영 보고서를 발간했다고 1일 밝혔다.
기아는 고객, 투자자, ESG 평가기관 등 국내외 여러 이해관계자와의 소통을 위해 매년 지속가능경영 보고서를 발간하고 있다.
기아는 보고서 본문을 ESG 비전과 관련된 내용을 스토리텔링 형식으로 풀어낸 ‘매거진(Magazine: Sustainable Story)’ 파트와, 데이터 중심의 ‘팩트북(ESG Fact book)’ 파트로 나누어 구성했다.
‘매거진’ 파트에는 새롭게 수립한 기아의 ESG 비전 ‘Sustainable Movement for an Inspiring future(영감을 주는 미래를 위한 지속가능한 움직임)’ 및 전략 체계에 대한 소개가 담겼다.
또한, 기아의 ESG 3대 핵심가치인 △지구를 위한 친환경/순환경제 선도(Cleaner & Circular) △모두가 안전하고 만족하는 사회 구축(Safe & Satisfying) △투명하고 신뢰성 있는 거버넌스 확립(Transparent & Trustworthy)의 의미 및 주요 추진 현황이 담겼다.

기아의 보고서는 GRI(Global Reporting Initiative), SASB(Sustainability Accounting Standards Board) 등 글로벌 공시 가이드라인을 준용하고 있으며, 올해에는 CSRD(Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive, 유럽 지속가능성 공시 지침) 등 점차 가시화되고 있는 ESG 정보공시 규제와 관련해 이중 중대성 평가 결과를 신규 수록하고 스코프3 온실가스 배출량 공시 범위를 확대 수록했다.
기아 관계자는 “이번 지속가능경영 보고서를 통해 대외 이해관계자들이 기아 ESG 비전의 가치와 지향점, 추진 의지에 공감하는데 도움이 되길 바란다”며 “유럽과 국제회계기준(IFRS)을 필두로 글로벌 ESG 공시 규제가 가시화됨에 따라 ESG 데이터 관리수준을 높이고 공시 체계를 지속적으로 개선 및 보완해 나갈 것이다”고 말했다.
한편, 기아는 지난 해부터 페이퍼리스(Paperless) 문화 확대를 위해 지속가능경영 보고서를 PDF 형태로만 발간하고 있다. 기아의 지속가능경영 보고서는 기아 홈페이지 내 지속가능경영 보고서 메뉴에서 누구나 열람이 가능하다.
