국가철도공단, 라오스 타켁∼무기아 철도 기본계획용역 수주

국가철도공단이 230만불 규모의 라오스 타켁∼무기아 철도 기본계획 용역 계약을 체결했다.

1일 공단에 따르면 계약이 체결된 구간은 라오스의 수도 비엔티안∼베트남 붕앙항을 연결하는 총연장 562km의 대규모 국제 철도프로젝트 구간 중 철도공단은 우선추진 구간인 라오스 타켁∼무기아 145km 구간이다.

이번 계약으로 공단은 ㈜유신엔지니어링과 컨소시엄을 구성해 이달부터 내년 7월까지 11개월간 용역에 나서게 된다.

이번 수주는 2010년과 2015년 두 차례에 걸쳐 한국의 공적개발원조 기금으로 타당성조사를 시행하여 사업성을 검토한 노선이 실제 사업으로 구체화되었다는 점에서 의미가 크다.

앞서 공단은 지난 2010년 해외건설협회 라오스-베트남 연결철도 예비타당성조사와 2015년 라오스-베트남 연결철도 타당성조사를 진행한 바있다.

한편, 라오스 비엔티안∼베트남 붕앙항을 연결하는 국제 철도프로젝트가 완성되면 라오스는 내륙국으로서의 한계를 극복하고 남중국해로의 진출망을 확보해 수도인 비엔티안이 동남아시아 물류허브 거점도시로 발전될 것으로 예상된다.
