브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 김진표 국회의장이 '120년 만의 강진' 발생으로 큰 피해를 입은 모로코에 위로의 뜻을 전했다.
11일 국회에 따르면 김진표 의장은 이날 라시드 딸비 알라미 모로코 하원의장과 나암 미야라 모로코 상원의장에게 각각 위로전을 보냈다.
김 의장은 위로전을 통해 "대한민국 국회를 대표해 이번 사고로 희생된 분들의 명복과 부상자들의 조속한 쾌유를 기원하며 유가족들에게 애도의 뜻을 전한다"며 "지진으로 인한 피해가 신속히 복구돼 모로코 국민들의 상처가 하루빨리 치유되고 평온한 일상을 되찾길 바란다"고 기원했다.
한편 모로코는 최근 강진으로 인한 희생자가 2100여명을 훌쩍 넘어서고 있다. 모로코 국영 일간지 르 마탱에 따르면 모로코 정부는 10일 오후 4시 기준 사망자가 2122명, 중경상자가 2421명이라고 잠점 집계해 발표했다. 특히 심각한 부상을 입은 사람이 많아 사망자가 계속 늘어나고 있다고 전했다.
미국 지질조사국(USGS)에 따르면 지진은 지난 8일 오후 11시11분 경 모로코 마라케시 서남쪽 약 71㎞ 지점에서 발생했다. 진원 깊이는 10km, 지진 규모는 6.8이다. 모로코에서 이같은 규모의 지진이 발생한 것은 120년 만이다.
