이날 워크샵에서는 2023년도 국가표준(KS) 및 국제표준(ISO) 활동 실적과 향후 계획을 ‘국가표준 지하수 전문위원회’에 보고하고, 의견을 청취했다.
공단은 지난 3월부터 국립환경과학원으로부터 지하수 분야의 표준협력기관으로 지정되어 전문위원회를 위탁 운영하고 있으며, 관련 분야 전문가 19명으로 구성된 자체 기술위원회를 구성하는 등의 노력 끝에 2023년 한 해 동안 국제표준(ISO)에 부합하는 국가표준(KS) 6건을 제정하는 성과를 달성했다.
또한, 국제표준화기구 유량측정 기술위원회 산하 지하수 분과 업무를 지원하며, 지난 6월 개최된 총회에서 지하수모델링 개념화*와 관련된 신규표준 제안 준비사항을 발표하는 등 방폐물 관리 분야에서 축적한 지하수 조사·평가·모니터링 기술력을 기반으로 활발한 활동을 지속하고 있다.
이번 워크샵을 통해 공단에서 수행한 지하수 분야 특허 동향 분석 결과와 전문가 의견을 수렴하여 국내외 표준화 공백 기술을 발굴하고, 체계적으로 개발하기 위한 ‘지하수 표준개발 로드맵(안)’을 수립하였다.
또한, 2024년 5월 경주로 예정된 국제표준화기구 지하수 분과 차기 총회를 성공적으로 개최하기 위한 상세 프로그램(안)을 전문위원들과 공유하는 시간도 가졌다.
조성돈 이사장은 “지하수 분야 국가표준(KS) 및 국제표준(ISO) 개발 활동을 토대로 부지특성평가 품질보증 체계를 강화하여 처분시설 안전성에 대한 대국민 신뢰성을 높이고, 지하수 분야 표준을 선점하여 대한민국의 국가 위상을 향상시키는 데 기여할 것으로 기대한다”고 말했다.
