한수원 김기영 처장, WANO 도쿄센터 사무총장 연임

24일 한수원에 따르면 김기영 사무총장은 2023년 1월 취임 이후 회원사를 직접 찾아다니며 현장을 살피고, 문제에 대한 해결책을 제시하는 등 적극적인 활동으로 탁월한 리더십을 인정받았다.

이러한 성과를 바탕으로 김 사무총장은 정기총회에서 회원사 만장일치로 24일부터 새로운 임기를 시작하게 됐다. 임기는 2026년 5월까지다.

WANO는 체르노빌 사고 이후 1989년에 설립된 원자력 분야 최대 민간 국제단체로, 전 세계 36개국 123개 원전 운영사가 참여해 원전 안전성 향상에 힘을 모으고 있다.

WANO 도쿄센터는 WANO의 4개 지역센터(애틀랜타, 파리, 모스크바, 도쿄) 중 하나로, 아시아 18개 회원사의 114개 원전에 대한 안전 점검을 총괄하고 있다. 도쿄센터 사무총장은 아시아 18개 회원사의 CEO들로 구성된 이사회와 총회의 선발 과정을 거쳐 임명된다.
