20일 경주시에 따르면 지난해 경주에서 1176건의 교통사고가 발생해 42명이 숨지고 1670명이 다쳤다.
이는 지난 2013년 교통사고 통계보다 사고 건수는 45.9%, 사망자 수는 48.8%, 부상자 수는 51.7% 각각 감소했다.
도로교통공단 교통사고분석시스템(TAAS) 기준 경주지역 교통사고 사망자 수는 2013년 82명으로 최근 10년 간 최다 사망자 수를 기록했다.
