시는 자동차세 체납액이 전체 체납액의 20%를 차지하는 만큼 이번 단속을 통해 성실한 납세 문화를 조성할 계획이다.
이를 위해 경주시 징수과와 각 읍·면·동 공무원들로 구성된 특별 영치반을 운영해 주간 및 새벽 집중 단속에 나설 방침이다.
단속 대상은 자동차세를 2회 이상 체납하거나 과태료 체납 합계가 30만 원 이상인 차량이다.
단속에 앞서 시는 체납 차량 소유자에게 안내 문자 발송과 현수막 게시 등을 통해 자진 납부를 독려했다.
강구식 경주시 징수과장은 “성실한 납세 문화를 조성하기 위해서는 체납이 발붙이지 못하도록 해야 한다”며 “번호판 영치로 불이익을 당하지 않도록 체납자들의 자진 납부를 당부드린다”고 강조했다.
