【브레이크뉴스 경주】박희경 기자=경주시는 국토교통부 주관 2024년 주거환경개선 경진대회에서 최우수상을 수상했다고 1일 밝혔다.

시에 따르면 이 상은 도시재생사업 중 주민 만족도가 높은 집수리 사업에 대한 우수 사례를 발굴해 사업 참여자를 격려하고 사례를 공유하기 위해 마련됐다.
시는 행복황촌 도시재생뉴딜사업(일반근린형)의 ‘일상이 여행이 되는 마을, 행복황촌’ 마을호텔 만들기 프로젝트로 심사위원들의 큰 호평을 얻었다.
시는 도시재생활성화 지역 내에 정주 환경을 개선하고 방문객이 머무르게 하는 등 공공에서 활성화 구역을 지정함은 물론 민간에서 자율적으로 집수리를 통해 마을호텔을 구성할 수 있도록 유도했다.
여기에 공공과 민간이 어우러져 시너지 효과를 낼 수 있도록 관광진흥법에 따라 마을기업이 외국인관광 도시민박업의 내국인 특례를 적용받을 수 있게 지원했다.
현재 행복황촌에는 공공이 조성한 행복꿈자리(게스트하우스) 등 거점시설 6곳과 예비 마을기업 조합원이 참여한 13곳이 황촌 마을호텔로 운영 중이다.
이에 신규 카페 10여 곳이 성업하는 등 골목 경제에 활력을 불어넣고 있다.
또 황촌 마을호텔의 성공 사례를 견학하기 위해 올해만 50여 개 기관, 1500여 명이 방문해 도시재생 선진 사례지로 주목받고 있다.
주낙영 경주시장은 “도시재생 마중물 사업으로 추진된 행복황촌 주거환경개선 사례가 행복황촌 마을 브랜드로 자리매김해 생활 인구 증가와 주민 소득 증대에 기여될 수 있도록 많은 관심 부탁드린다”라며 “이번 수상이 경주시 성건1지구 뉴:빌리지사업 공모사업 평가에 가점 요인으로 반영됨에 따라 원도심 활성화에 새로운 기반이 마련할 수 있길 바란다”고 말했다.
